Medical Advocacy

CSADV advocates are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to a victim who presents themselves at the hospital or other medical setting with injuries related to domestic violence or sexual assault. Advocates are available to provide accurate information and support while the victim is treated for injuries and talks with medical personnel.

SART

For victims who have been sexually assaulted, the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is offered through Mercy Medical Center—Sioux City, and St. Lukes Regional Medical Center in Sioux City. SART is a victim-sensitive program designed to provide a team approach to responding to sexual assaults. The SART team consists of a physician to provide a medical and evidentiary examination and medical support, a law enforcement officer to conduct an investigation and provide emergency assistance, and a victim advocate who is there to provide emotional support to the victim.
