Auxiliary

A core group of volunteers have formed an Auxiliary to support services of the Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence.  The group hosted a kick off on February 2 for potential members to learn more about the Auxiliary and to get a tour of the Shelter.  The kick off was a great success, but if you missed it you are not too late to join!!  We are excited that 35 people are already members and the number keeps growing.

The mission of the Auxiliary is to provide hands-on opportunities to enhance the mission of the agency.  Three areas of focus were identified by the leaders so members can choose how they want to be involved.  Those area are:

Building Relationships - aid in specific marketing and public relations needs including brochures and newsletters.  Help introduce new people to CSADV through Sheltours (tours of the Shelter) and help cultivate individuals into volunteers, advocates, and donors.

Enhancing Environment - focus on the environment of the shelter, counseling rooms and conference rooms of CSADV to ensure they are welcoming, inviting, well-maintained, appropriately decorated and comfortable.

Special Needs - Help keep the supply of much needed items in the shelter through special drives for toys, clothes, furniture, appliances and personal products; hosting events like teddy bear teas or making blankets and clothing.

Each member is encouraged to commit as much time as they want to the Auxiliary.  There is no time limit and no time maximum.  We want everyone to feel useful and not overburdened.  The fee for membership is only $12.50.  That is the amount it would cost a woman for one night of shelter, fortunately, it is free to her.  If you would like to pay for additional nights of shelter you are welcome to do so.

If you are interested in joining or would like more information contact any of the ladies listed below or Brooke at (712) 277-0131 or brooke@csadv.org  You may also click on the link on the side bar.

The auxiliary leadership includes Ginny Peterson, Sandy Ellis, Sandy Bainbridge, Connie Chapman, Shirley Juon, Sheryl McGowan, Janice Oss, Deanna Pennings and Adrian Wisner.  This core group is getting together soon to plan a meeting of the ENTIRE group of members later this spring.  So you haven't missed anything yet!!
